About Us
He was eight years old when Founder and Creative Director Byron Morton received his first set of puppets and instantly fell in love with this creative art form. For many years Byron pursued his love of puppetry only on a part-time basis performing for various venues with the dream of one day becoming a full time puppeteer. That dream became a reality when in 1989 Byron was offered a full time position with a professional puppet troupe. However traveling away from home 6 days out of 7 leaving a wife and two very small children at home took its toll.
Byron resigned his position with that performing troupe and decided to pursue puppetry on his own. So in 1990 along with his wife Marlene they formed Images Creative Puppetry. Images began with about 5 main characters and in short time grew to a professional troupe of over 350 colorful puppet personalities. For the next two years the Morton’s toured performing shows. It was during that time that people being impressed with the quality of their puppets would ask them to create some for them as well. Hence the birth of images Puppet Productions Inc. With a successful performing company on the go Byron and Marlene worked tirelessly to build Images Puppet Productions Inc. to what it is today. “Canada’s Largest Resource Center for the Puppetry Arts,” producing everything from small hand puppets to custom corporate mascots.
Their recording facilities are second to none producing custom shows and original music for themselves as well as for others. Many of these custom creations have been used on several television and videos delighting people from around the world.
Recently the Morton’s have opened up Images School of the Puppetry Arts. Teaching both children and adults alike in the art of puppetry. It is here at the school that students are introduced to several styles of puppetry taught by some of the best in the business. The school provides weekly classes as well as intensive workshops.
Byron himself has had the pleasure of being personally tutored by some of the countries top puppet builders thus giving him a broad range of experience that he has been able to bring to his own creations. Thus putting Images in a league of their own in quality puppet designs.
The Morton’s were the first to create “The Puppet House” a retail operation consisting of an entire house filled with wonderful, colorful puppet creations. Now with the recent addition of their eldest daughter Jessie as Head of Purchasing and Administration Byron and Marlene hope to take their retail operations to the next level. Jessie is a Business graduate with all the expertise needed to propel Images forward in the retail market. Currently Images is working hand in hand with talented web designers in creating Canada’s Largest On Line Puppetry Retail Outlet. Carrying over 1500 quality items all related to the Puppetry Arts.
It has always been Byron’s dream that if anyone thinks of puppets they think of Images Puppet Productions Inc.
